I was so excited for fall to come this year. As a photographer, it is our go time! But as with all things in 2020 it was looking like fall was going to be a great disappointment. The smoke from California came rolling in and defused the light from the sun. This little bit of absents of light was enough to trick the leave that it was time to start changing. But it was not. The problem was of course is it was not cold enough to aid in the metamorphoses to glorious colors that fall brings into our lives. The leave instead of looking awe-inspiring was looking more like mud. I honestly thought fall was going to be a big dud.
But then something started to happen. We had a second wave of just could enough nights to start making the sap in the leaves stop flowing and thereby making some of the trees stand out. God ended up blessing us anyway this year in 2020. He is so good.
And He is so good in many ways we cannot always see. For instance, normally I capture fall in a more epic fashion. I like to try and step back and capture the big landscapes. But this year most of the trees that fill those landscapes were looking less than desirable. God’s goodness forced me to look up one day as I was praying. When I looked up the tree in my yard was filtering the light from the warm sun. It was so pretty. It felt to me as if I were putting my face against a stained glass window on a warm sunny day while squinting my eyes to transform the colors into a kaleidoscope of reds and oranges. I just had to capture it. I had to capture the beauty God had graciously provided for us this year.
Thank you for looking and I hope you enjoy it.
